athena and apollo adventures: part 1

[ today is a weekend, and nobody's supposed to be at the wright anything agency, but athena's made her way in with her key and is just sitting on the couch and reading some stuff on widget.

a weekend as it may be, athena's got a packed schedule for the day. shopping for groceries (it's tough when you're living alone!), visiting the aquarium for some animal therapy, going to the library to study some, and that's just the start of her day. in the afternoon, she plans on heading to the gym to do some light workouts, and what a good way to train in her martial arts form by asking her colleague apollo to join her!

and also to carry her bags. so she's waiting for him now at the agency. athena's gone a bit too excited for today since she's never really spent time with apollo outside of work-related scenarios, so she got there extra early. ]

[He swerves around her, barely avoiding just that. He can understand the surprise, though.]

You guessed right. Kristoph is Prosecutor Gavin's older brother. He doesn't really like talking about it, not after everything.

[Not that Apollo can blame him.] Anyway, when Mr. Wright was accused of murder a little while ago, he asked me to be his defense attorney. [Mouth tightening slightly, Apollo glances away for a moment before he looks back at Athena.] I got Mr. Wright declared innocent, but Mr. Gavin was the one who took his place behind bars.

[psycholawgy]

[ well, it's no wonder apollo was reluctant to talk about it... and it doesn't seem like klavier would want to talk about this, either. she turns and starts to walk slowly, her head facing the ground. ]

That must have been really tough.

[ accusing your boss of murder? and then you end up without a job? and surely, kristoph was apollo's mentor before phoenix was, too... it must have hurt him really badly. ]

I'm sorry.

[pollygrapher]

[He walks beside her, hands shoved into his pockets in a more casual image this time.]

Yeah... it was tough, I'm not going to lie about that. But if we hadn't done it, we'd never have found the truth in the end.

[Eyes catching hers, he says firmly,] That makes it worth it, don't you think?

[psycholawgy]

[ she looks up at him and smiles. ]

That was actually inspiring, Apollo.

[pollygrapher]

[Don't mind the pleased smile spreading across his face. Whatever cool points he just earned for himself are totally lost in the small, dorky laugh he lets out now.]

You think so? [And then a pause, eyes narrowing suspiciously.] Wait, what do you mean "actually"?

[psycholawgy]

[ she speeds up her pace in an attempt to leave apollo slightly behind. it's all for dramatics, really. her ponytail slides with the wind and probably hits apollo in the face when she moves, too. ]

I'm just saying. I feel so pumped up!

[ she does a few punches at the air before stopping in her tracks again. ]

[pollygrapher]

[It sure does smack him in the face, leaving him sputtering as she moves on ahead.]

Nothing wrong with being pumped up. [Apollo tells her when he's close enough.] Can we just leave your hair out of the equation next time?

[Feeling some of her emotions catch, though he'd never admit it, Apollo flicks the tip of her ponytail pointedly, a wry smile on his face.]

[psycholawgy]

[ totally oblivious— ]

What's wrong with my hair?

[pollygrapher]

[So that was completely accidental? Figures. Apollo sighs and simply speeds up so he's leading the way onto the train when it finally pulls up to the platform.]

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

[It's kind of a relief when the doors close and their compartment's only half-full. The perks of being early.]

What time does the aquarium open?

[psycholawgy]

[ the perks of being early, indeed! they can sit down, too. and there aren't a lot of angry old ladies in the train! ]

It opens at 9 on weekends. And the show starts at noon.

[ oh... that's a lot of time to spare. that's practically three hours of just going around the aquarium! not that athena is bothered by it at all. ]

We're going to have so much fun, Apollo! I really hope we'll get to be part of the show.

[pollygrapher]

[Three hours of poking around the aquarium doesn't sound so bad, especially if they're just hanging out and checking in on the people working there. It'd make for a nice chance of pace, anyway.

Apollo just nods along as the train begins to move, until...]

Wait, hold on. I thought we were just watching the show, not participating!

[psycholawgy]

Aw, don't be such a killjoy!

[ she takes a seat and places her bag on the floor. ]

I'm just saying... what if, you know?

[pollygrapher]

I'm just pointing out the facts here!

[Don't mind him sputtering a little, hoping the idea doesn't catch--at least for him.

Noticing that his loud protests are drawing some attention from the other passengers, Apollo tries to lower his volume. Only slightly.]

You could always ask Sasha if you can join her in the show, if you want to do it so badly.

[psycholawgy]

[ apollo, you can be so embarrassing. . . ]

Well, it'd be great if you were in the show with me! I can be a pretty mermaid, and you can be Captain Nostasche!

[pollygrapher]

WHA-- [Oh, right, volume control. Apollo leans in slightly to make up for the (slightly) softer voice.]

Don't they already have someone playing Captain Nostasche? [He runs a hand through his hair, practically wilting as he continues.] And why am I supposed to be the villain here?

[psycholawgy]

[ athena's quick to pout. come ooooon apollo!!! ]

What role do you want to have, then?

[ she'll listen, though she still thinks captain nostache is a good role for him. ]

[pollygrapher]

Can't I just help off-stage? Some role that doesn't involve being seen by the audience, something along those lines.

[It's bad enough when Trucy tries to pull him into being her magic assistant...]

[psycholawgy]

Well, that's no fun!

[ she decides to look out the window while apollo's complaining in his head. ]

Besides, a little PR never hurt anyone.

[pollygrapher]

PR for what? [Apollo slants a look over at her.]

A show like that isn't exactly a good place to advertize our skill as lawyers or anything.

[psycholawgy]

Again with being such a killjoy.

Just do it, pleaaaase? [ practically begging at this point. apollo's lucky athena hasn't resorted to emotional blackmail. ]

[Practically sweating bullets over here.]

...fine.

[I'm going to regret this, aren't I... he thinks, even though he'd feel bad saying no when Athena's so insistent.]

[psycholawgy]

[ screeches ]

Thanks! [ you will regret this!

but she is going to hug apollo now. in public transport. yes. ]

[pollygrapher]

[That sure was unexpected! After standing stock-still for a second, Apollo circles an arm around her shoulder, returning the hug however awkwardly.]

Just don't mention it to Mr. Wright and Trucy or I'll never hear the end of it.

[psycholawgy]

[ APOLLO, WHY. she pulls away and starts banging her fists in the air, showing her frustration with the situation. ]

What?! But I have to take pictures!
