I'm Athena. [ She gives him a firm handshake once, and pulls her hand back and glances behind her. No one seems to be there, though... Pity. ] I'm living with Ryuko, but she's not here right now.

Yeah, that sounds about right. It's cool meeting ya, Athena.

[A nod. He wouldn't have taken offense if she had used those words at all. If anything, he might have been curious about her own experiences in this place that had led to such wording...]

Ryuko? [Curious. That wasn't a common name.] She wouldn't happen to have a reddish highlight in her bangs, would she?

[ Shirasu leaves a cloth-wrapped package at Athena's apartment door. Within the package is a white box with six wagashi. There is also a note: ]

Actually, there're sweets carefully put in a smaller box inside so it won't be jostled. Cupcakes (chocolate as well as vanilla). With icing dolphins decorating their blue-icing'd tops. BUT, alongside that is this guy right here, along with a little box of new paints and brushes.]

[ Aaand, here's finally that gift he said he would deliver. It looks really heavy and has been nicely wrapped up. The contents inside might or might not be so nice. It depends on her preference.

[ That's definitely a good comment that Athena takes to heart. She's very glad that Cliff calls Ryuko a "cool kid", and that their meeting didn't turn chaotic. ]

A lot of the people who have been brought here are very kind. Everyone has to help each other out, you know?

Did you-- [ She gives him a lookover. It looks like he can fend for himself, but she asks, anyway. ] get hurt in the amusement park or anything?

Well...[he rubbed the back of his neck, thoughtful,] no one I was with got hurt, but we all got a few things to think on about this place.

[It was bizarre. He hated to use a coding reference, because he wasn't tech savvy in that regard, but there were a few instances where it seemed like glitches in a video game. After recent experiences, it was more of a frustration than anything else.]

Do things like that happen all the time, or was it a one-time deal?

[ Athena shakes her head and laughs sheepishly as a response. It definitely wasn't a one-time deal, and she can't help but... well, feel bad about the truth. ]

No... sorry. [ It's not her fault, but she apologises anyway. ] This place - we might have been saved, but it's still plenty dangerous.

[A nod. Cliff understood and accepted her words without complaint. Resting his hands on his hips, he regarded the young woman with a more considering gaze. With her stature and build, he couldn't help but wonder how she had been managing in this place if situations like at the Santastical Funland were more common than he realized.]

Somehow, I'm not surprised. There's always a catch to these things-- its another reason I wanted to say 'hi' to folks, because it's better to have friends around for when stuff like that goes down.

[He glanced away for a moment, pulling out a small, giftwrapped package that he had been trying (and likely failing) to hide.]

This ain't what I wanted to talk about, though. Here. [He held it out.] I found something that might be useful, just in case some of the other people on this floor are less likely to appreciate the fun you and Ryuko get up to in here.

[It was a package of disposable earplugs, because he figured that there had to have been a few noise complaints about that apartment after that rowdy party a few weeks back, if not for the snowman.]

[On Christmas Day, Athena has some presents under the tree at Phoenix's apartment that she can pick up at her leisure. This includes a Christmas card (the front of which bears a dorky picture of Phoenix and Trucy with Santa beards/hats photoshopped onto them):]

I don't always say it, but I hope that you know that I'm really proud of you, for a lot of things. There's everything that you accomplished back home. You helped to save an innocent man's life against all odds, you proved yourself as a lawyer, and it's thanks to you that we brought an end to the dark age of the law. And here, you've managed to stay so bright and energetic despite everything. You've made a lot of friends and you're doing what you can to help others here even when you can't practice law.

It's like you're growing up a little more day, and I'm glad. Adjusting to this place wouldn't have been half as easy without you. As your boss, I'm going to do what I can to help you back. I promise that the Wright Anything Agency will be fully on its feet in due time, and I'll do everything that I can to get us back in the courtroom. We can't give up yet. But you're already thinking that, aren't you?

[On Christmas Eve, Lee leaves a mini-Christmas tree outside the door to the apartment and sets up presents for Athena and Ryuko there.

Athena's card contains a heartfelt message of youth and how much he's enjoyed working with her at the gym. The present includes some weights, a pamphlet about an intense training , a book of inspirational feel-good proverbs and a framed photo of Gai-Sensei.]

[Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It is a time of generosity, and so Vietnam would like to share some food that one can share with family and friends. A package containing some bánh quy bơ quế (butter cookies with Vietnamese cinnamon MMMM), and an assortment of mứt (candied fruit preserves) for the New Year.

She also gets this awesome as hell mug for all her tea and coffee needs! A card is included:]

Merry Christmas! It's strange that we all have to spend it here, but at least we're together, right? This place aside, this whole year has actually been pretty strange. A lot of good things have happened, but so did a lot of bad things. I know I caused a couple of those bad things, and I appreciate it that you forgave me for it. Even though I should have being doing this since the beginning, I just really hope you know that I will always stick by your side from here on out.
