[After a few unsuccessful attempts to reach Athena by CeresVice, she's starting to get a little worried.]

[And what's the Maya solution? It's to show up at her door and knock enthusiastically.]

Athenaaa! Hey, Athenaaa!

[ it's nice that maya decided to visit, really! it isn't athena who welcomes her, though, but clonco. ]

Hello. Who are you?

[ you're not exactly in his records yet, maya! ]

[Gosh, rude, Clonco!! But Maya takes a minute to pause and stare. She feels like she's seen this thing before, but:]

Hey, you're a robot!

[very astute, Maya]

Oh, I'm! I'm Maya! I'm a friend of Athena's... I was just, um, wondering how she was doing.

[ clonco starts crying, or as much as a robot can, anyway. there aren't any tears that come out of its eyes (monitor?!) but it does make pained noises as its hands move to try and wipe the tears (there aren't any) away from its eyes. ]

Athena won't talk to me! She's so sad and sometimes I can hear her cry at night!

Oh no... that's awful! [Poor Clonco!! Maya puts her hands on its shoulders comfortingly, evidently empathizing with its not tears]

[But she steels herself!! She has to assure this robot]

But-- I'm here! I can help! Or I can try!

[ well, it's a good thing clonco is a robot and stops crying immediately. ]

Please help her! [ sad faces.

and it's why he moves to the side to let maya in. once the door is closed, he wheels over to where athena's room is and then looks at maya expectantly. ]

Don't worry! Maya the Great's on the job! I'll take care of Athena, no problem!

[gives Clonco a pat to bolster the robot, and then she dramatically follows him to the door...!!!!]

[And knocks!]

Um... Athena?

[ there's no answer, but clonco decides to open the door, anyway. he doesn't peek in like he normally would, and just lets maya do her thing.

with the door open, it's easy to see that the room is dark. there aren't any lights on, but athena's holo(gm) is galaxies, so there are stars everywhere. athena's bed is pretty big, and is a canopy bed too. she's just in the middle curled up in a ball and in her blankets. ]

Atheeeeena?

[Maya's a rude little shit, so she just lets herself in and starts to make her way over, pausing to get distracted at the holo-galaxy]

Wow... that's beautiful!

[ well, she wasn't paying attention when the door opened, but now she is. she pops out of her blankets and looks at maya. ]

What-- What are you doing here?

[Maya takes a second to answer because she's still kind of enraptured with the holo-gasp]

What do you think? I came to see you!

[Ahem, she focuses back on Athena]

You don't seem like you're doing too good.

[ maya being distracted is enough time to pull out a warm smile. gotta keep smiling even at the toughest of times, after all. ]

I'm not feeling so well, though. I don't know if I'd make good company right now.

[listen, that's Maya's shtick too, you can't fool her]

We're friends, and friends are company no matter what! [that makes no sense Maya, but that's okay]

What's wrong?

[ that really didn't make any sense.

she pouts now, though. she sits up properly, drawing her knees close to her so she can embrace them. ]

You have to promise never to tell Mr. Wright.

Don't worry, I'm an expert at keeping secrets from Nick! [Not something you should really be bragging about, MAYA]

[She invites herself over to Athena's bed, sitting down about half a foot away]

So, what's up?

[ she's still a bit hesitant even if maya won't tell phoenix, but maybe telling someone might actually help. ]

Do you believe in destiny?

[That's an interesting question. Maya has to mull on it for a second, tapping her finger against her cheek.]

[Destiny, huh....]

Yeah, I think I do. [But it's not so simple as that. For Maya, she thinks her destiny is set in stone. Not really in a good way. But others--- maybe not. Not everyone has her kind of luck.]

I'm guessing you do, too.

[ she gives a small nod at that, confirming that she does. peoples lives are linked to one another, and things they achieve were definitely meant for them. working hard for your destiny is only natural. ]

I don't think my destiny is to be in Los Angeles.

[ she doesn't say any more than that. there's a reason why she told maya to promise not to tell phoenix. this is why. ]

[Maya can sympathize with that. Being where she has been, she never thought she'd ever be able to go home again. But.]

So where do you think it is?

[There's no judgment, just curiosity] Like... here? Or somewhere else?

[ the question only makes her embarrassed, though. she sinks lower into her sheets, to look as small as possible. ]

Probably here, or probably somewhere else. Just— [ ah, well, maya already knows about her relationship, but it's still... embarrassing. exposing herself like this is awkward. ] Just. . . wherever Merlin is.

Wherever Merlin is, huh? You wanna go home with him?

[She puts her hands under her chin and props it up] Or take him home with you?

I— He—

[ she falls silent for a few good moments, her nails digging into her blanket. ]

He has so many things to do, and— [ then her voice softens. as if whispering, she says: ] I've saved Simon. . . I've done what I had to do...
