Sort of. Can you cut me another piece?

[ He gives her a small smile while holding out the fork. ]

Of course.

[ she takes the fork from him to cut a small piece, then she offers it to him. ]

Open wide.

[ He takes the bite into his mouth, only realising after that not making this gross is ... kind of difficult. It means he has to kind of leave part on one side of his mouth while he chews the other, just to leave a tiny bit so when he leans to kiss her there's still a strong taste of chocolate and fruit there.

And nope, there's no warning before he leans to kiss her either. ]

[ what happened to just eating cake... ]

-- mmph! [ it definitely surprises her but she doesn't jump or push him away this time. instead, she closes her eyes and places a hand on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze. ]

but no, it hasn't happened all that often because she keeps being distant :( He's making the most of this... ah. This is the last time though... probably.

By the time the chocolate has melted though, he's actually just kissing her, eyes fluttering open just so he can stay focused. It's... easier with it like this now, sorry Athena... ah. ]

The berries make it even better. [ Is... the only thing he says when he pulls away. Ah. ]

[ she actually chases after him when he pulls away though, but she doesn't want to push anything which is why she just... hovers away instead. ]

Y- You should open your present.

[ Considering his eyes were left open, he doesn't miss it. Instead, his hand moves to brush through her hair slowly. He meant it earlier about her not needing to change at least, it's only when she closed off from him a bit before. Like this... it's nice. ]

It can wait a little longer, can't it?

[ He presses just a few lighter kisses on her face in the meantime. ]

I guess!

[ she's excited for him to open the present too. it's going to be a new thing for him! ]

More cake?

[ He shakes his head lightly, then leans forward until he can rest his forehead against her shoulder. ]

No... I just want to be like this.

[ Maybe it's selfish to request these things when she's obviously offering more because of the significance of what her bringing the cake and present is, but it's... nice to just sit here with her and for things to be less awkward for once. ]

It's rich, if I eat too much once I'll probably get sick. I'm... not used to it now.

[ :( It's still good though Athena ]

[ she doesn't apologise this time!! instead, she sets the plate back on the coffee table and rests her back on the couch. her other hand reached out to run her fingers through his hair gently. ]

Sleepy?

[ He does at least give a tiny smile at that, resting against her. ]

A little, but it's just from working. You must be tired too... how much effort did you go through to prepare this?

Like I'd tell you.

[ it was a lot easier to make than the food she made for him when the flamines stole their money, but it did still take some good amount of effort. and there was also the stress of making sure things would go okay for tonight. staying sane despite those thoughts actually took more effort than making the cake itself. ]

Just let me know when you want to sleep, okay? I don't want to stay too long if you're tired.

So it's a secret... [ It's a soft mumble though, said with a puff of air that sounds like a laugh. Knowing her though, she probably spent a lot of time on this. It helps him feel calmer at least. Helps him know that it's just that things are difficult to accept... sort of. ]

I need to open my present before that.

Definitely. I'm not leaving until you see what it is.

[ hopefully he'll get excited about it when he does open it. because when she thought of buying it for him, she definitely got super excited just imagining the things he'll do with it. ]

[ Slowly he shifts a bit until they're curled up a little more, then softly asks: ]

Can you reach the box from here?

[ it's a bit of a stretch, but after moments of struggling, she manages to pull the present! yatta. she just lets it rest on her lap until he takes it from her tbh. ]

Finding you a present was actually more difficult than making the cake. I hope you'll like this one too, though, and not just because it's from me.

[ He peeks up at her when she says that. ]

I'm sure I will. Here. [ He finally pulls it closer, and rather than you know... pulling off the tape with his hands it just unfastens itself. Lazy tbh. Once it's open though, he peeks up at her before twisting it to look inside. ]

This is a...? [ Well, he's got to get it out first, but he Thinks he knows what it is. ]

[ seeing him use magic is still fascinating all this time, really, which is why she watches the present unwrap itself with childlike amazement.

it's even more exciting now that he can see what the actual presents are. she can teach him more stuff! ]

A camera. Not like the one on the CereVice. [ she takes the camera box and opens it to pull out the actual gadget. ] The photos you take aren't digital, and whenever you take a picture, the camera prints it out so you can have it on hand.

[ she gives him a smile then, letting the camera rest on her lap, too. ]

I thought you might like it. For when you make more memories here.

[ It's a lot more natural now too when everything peels apart. He definitely smiles and shifts a bit, half way between her and the couch now. ]

Can we take one now then?

[ It's a weird shape compared to the CereVice, but the box seems to show how it works a little. For now, he'll just rely on her to take the first picture. Just to show him how it works. ]

[ she fiddles with it first, not even sure if there's photo paper inside. but once she opens the back, she sees it loaded up, so that answers that. ]

Alright.

[ the camera doesn't hover or anything, so athena has to stretch out her arm to get ready to take a photo. hopefully she'll get both of them in it... ]

Ready?

[ He waits quietly while she moves it around, though it's definitely easier that it has some in. ]

Ready whenever you are.

[ Which means that he's going to nuzzle in closer so they both should be in the shot. ]

[ she doesn't say "cheese" this time around, and instead turns to kiss him on the cheek the same time she pushes the button to take the photo. and unlike the cerevice, the camera makes a little bit of a whizzing noise before the photo slowly gets printed out from the top. it's blank at first but athena pulls out the photo and shakes it for a couple of seconds to help with the developing.

once the picture's fully developed, she hands it over to him. the focus isn't perfect and there's a bit of empty space on the side, but it did capture both of them. ]

See? You can get a copy of it in an instant.

[ It helps the look on his face soften for the photo though, so when she finishes he leans up to peck the corner of her mouth. He looks towards the print out after, watching what she does with it. ]

[ He takes the photo though, of course, thumb sliding over the edge of the print carefully just in case it smudges. ]
