Yeah. I feel kind of bad, you know? She said I don't have to work as much now that she took on a second job. I know she wants to help but she really didn't have to just for me.

[ if merlin was ever curious on what she spends her money on, now would be the time to ask since she'd likely tell him... ]

[ Wow don't agree?! Really though, now he's just making sure it's cook through enough, turning the heat lower while he drains the spaghetti. He pours equal amounts onto the plates first, before adding the sauce on top. While doing all that though, he keeps up the conversation. ]

Why does she feel like she has to?

[ He and Ai talked a little about it behind her back (sorry, love) and really he feels like Athena is reckless with money too, but he doesn't know Athena's real opinion on it yet. ]

[ you said it first though, not me. ]

I guess she just wants to help out with the finances. I mean, I can take care of rent and everything since I make sure I put aside enough money for it. She really didn't have to.

I might look for another job again too, now that Archer's gone.

[ huff puff ]

Well, she worries about you because you think about others first before yourself.

...Archer's gone? [ He may sound a little gleeful about that sorry... ]

[ wow?? she takes offense at that. ]

the comment with archer earns an eyebrow raise, though. ] Yeah, a few days ago. We didn't even get to make up.

It isn't a bad thing... you just need to think of yourself more too.

[ But okay, now he's raising an eyebrow back now. ] You fell out?

I do that enough already.

[ she's fine!!! ]

I tried to ask him for help over something, and he didn't want to help me. So I got mad at him and I punched him.

[ she'll just leave the part out where the punch totally didn't hurt him at all, and hurt her more and all. ]

[ He's teasing her though. ]

And really? Because he threatened to kill me pretty recently.

[ she just.

almost spit her food at him. but thankfully, there's a napkin nearby and she covers her mouth with it. ]

[ Athena?!?!?!?

He just waits for her to finish before just shrugging. ]

I don't really know, we just went around in circles.

[ this definitely isn't helping her at all. now she's even more mad at archer, even though she regretted not apologising to him when he left. ]

Did he hurt you?

[ Oops, but he promised not to hide anything, so... ]

No, he didn't. He just threatened it.

[ her grip on her fork tightens, and her eyes narrow when she looks at him. ]

And you're not lying about this?

[ because, really. he just died, and now she's learning about this too!! what the hell!!! ]

[ His eyes narrow at that and he shifts to get out his CereVice, he pulls out this conversation and hands it over to her. ]

[ fine. she drops her fork on her plate with a pretty loud noise and takes the cerevice, reading the messages. her expression goes from calm-angry to just plain angry when she reaches the end, brows furrowing even more. ]

What is wrong with him?! I told him he was wrong about you! [ she sets down his cerevice then, and slides it over to his side. ] He's always been such a coward!

[ He frowns just a little when she just gets angrier and angrier. He feels a bit bad for making it worse now, but... ]

Sorry, I really didn't know who it was at first either, and he wouldn't say. [ A small shrug. ] I didn't want you to get upset.

[ her breathing is a bit off now, and she tries to calm herself down by scratching the table with one of her nails. ]

It's not your fault. It was his! I can't believe I wanted to apologise to that jerk!

Hey-- [ His hand reaches to cover hers and he wiggles around until he can nuzzle his nose against her. ]

--it's okay.

[ it doesn't placate her entirely just yet, but it is helping. ]

It's not okay. He was trying to interfere.

I think we're both too stubborn for that to work though, don't you?

[ He rubs her hand, then up along her arm. ]

That doesn't make it okay! He tried to hurt you— what if... [ what if archer did an attempt and actually succeeded? she just trails off then, not saying anything else. ]

Athena. [ His hand slides up until he can cup her cheek. ] Don't think about the "what if"s when it didn't happen. I'm fine. Great, even. It didn't happen.

[ she sighs as she looks away from him, more or less pulling her face away from his hand. ]

He wanted to hurt you... I— He wanted me to break up with you, but I didn't want to.

[ and softly, as if just resigning, she says: ] I thought he was my friend.

...Sorry. [ His hand drops to the side, struggling to actually help her as much as he wants to. ]

I really don't know why he doesn't like me. He wouldn't explain it properly.

He said you were a jerk. He's— He's a Servant, so... [ oh, but so is merlin. hold on. . . ] I mean, he's this historical thing? He's called a Servant. And he knows so many historical figures. He said that any Merlin would be like the one he knows.

[ she isn't sure what else to do now. she should probably continue eating, but she's just far too upset with archer to have an appetite. ]
