You do, but you also have a huge bag of sweets. [ Thankfully his nachos haven't gone flying off the other chair and he can use his free hand for one of those, warmth flowing into the side of his body where Athena is tucking herself now.

Even if he might want to jump when at certain scenes, it's easy to ignore the feeling like this. ]

[ it's gotten darker now, but she gives him a look. ]

What? I can do it. I can be there for you while I eat and watch the movie.

[ He squints at her in the darkness. ] I don't have some kind of mental affliction, you know? It's just... exciting. Experiencing this for the first time. With you.

[ but she leans in and kisses him on the cheek, anyway. ]

I just don't want your first time to get ruined by some robots.

[ It's a good job he's leaning down in his seat, isn't it? Though once she pulls away he moves to follow her, catching the corner of her mouth. ]

[ yes, bless you, you goddamn giant. she focuses on the screen now, watching some kind of trailer for another animal-related film. something about finding a forgetful fish.

it's kind of cute. . . ]

[ He only mumbles something unintelligible in return, watching the screen instead as he lets his head roll sideways to rest against hers. There's a few crunching noises as he eats his nachos one by one, chewing slowly as he focuses on the movie now.

It's with less enthusiasm than before, but he still feels happy and content to be here. By the time the film is well underway he's forgotten food exists or that his neck is going to get a crick at this rate. Oops. ]

[ the movie is fun and all, but she can't help but yawn every now and then. there's nobody to blame but herself. she's been running herself ragged trying to work as many jobs as possible lately. . . damn those flamines for getting all her money. and she really wants to make it up to ai and all her friends to helping her and even giving her food every now and then.

she has a lot of catching up to do.

it's just yawning at first, and she still manages to watch the film, but eventually, she rests her head on merlin's and falls asleep.

[ It does, at least, take him a little while to notice. They're around 45 minutes into the movie even, and even at this point he's been trying to keep his laughter down so no one looks back at them again. When he notices that she's fallen asleep he shifts slowly, carefully reaches for her popcorn that is dangerously toppling and lowers it to the chair on the other side of her. That done he slowly peels his arm from hers, only to slide it around her shoulders to cuddle her in a bit better.

These seats are hardly the most comfortable for something like is, but it works well enoug if he twists a bit, hand rubbing up and down her side in slow, soothing motions. He kisses her temple, letting his cheek rest there after so he can keep watching the movie while she rests, he doesn't want to disturb her if she's really this tired.

Idly, he glances down every so often at the bracelet around her wrist, hoping that it's giving her pleasant dreams. ]

i need cute things too... I had a nightmare

[ and pleasant dreams are indeed what she's having. she doesn't know it just yet, but they're probably the most serrne dreams she's had in a while.

she stirs awake, though, because it's practically impossible to stay asleep in a movie theatre for so long. ]

Did I? [ fall asleep, she means... though that's probably obvious because she has no idea what's happening in the movie anymore. nevertheless, she moves as closer as she can to merlin to get more warmth. it's a lot better this way. ]

[ It probably is when a penguin crashes a plane or something dumb like that and the sound explodes through the whole cinema. Athena's voice is much softer, but he hears it well enough. He shifts to glance down at her, keeping quiet so they don't disturb others. ]

A little, but it's fine, isn't it? [ At least she's willing to admit it. ] Are you comfortable enough?

[ This would be much better on a couch, honestly. ]

This is fine.

[ though she tugs on his shirt slightly just to be closer. she'd really much prefer a couch right now where she can just embrace him and lie on his chest while he does something else.

well, not what she dreamt about, but it's close. ]

[ At least it's dark that no one can really see how close they are like this, it'd just be better without the chair's arm sticking in the way.

He almost wants to ask how much they'd be charged for property damages if he just poofed it away, thankfully that doesn't come up as he answers her question instead. ]

Why wouldn't I be?

[ He isn't the one passing out from exhaustion?! ]

[ she gives him a peck on the cheek before looking at the movie screen again... she's certainly missed a lot of scenes if there's a penguin army trying to infiltrate a castle now.

[ Why is there a penguin army trying to infiltrate a castle now?! Crazy..... ]

My eyes are starting to hurt though.

[ Problems with being new to 3D... Given that the next part seems predictable in the way movies are, he reaches up with his free hand to pull the glasses off, holding them by the arm before his head twists to bury against her instead. ] How much longer is left?

[ Probably another 45 minutes at this point....... ]

[ she has to look for where the popcorn is, and once she's find it, starts stuffing her mouth with it. ]

I'm not sure. Are you getting bored?

[ To be fair, he had an extra 30 minutes of eating nachos and finishing them up while she slept through her popcorn eating time. He shakes his head against her, scrunching his eyes open and shut. A million colours feel like they're spotting his vision. ]

I didn't say that. It's just sore.

[ He didn't grow up in the age of computer screens, Athena. Cut him some slack... ]

[ she hasn't even said anything remotely rude? ]

Rub your temples a bit, it should relax your eyes.

[ He drapes the glasses over his knee, hand reaching up to rub at his temple slowly. It does actually slowly start to work, though looking at the screen without the glasses only seems to make it worse. In the end he ends up reaching his arm back to use both hands, rubbing his temples then slowly going down to his eyes. ]

Why does it ache more than a television?

[ It's a slight grumble like a petulant child tbh when he says it, peering at her after he's rubbed his eyes a bit more. He has to blink a little blurriness away, but okay. Okay. Definitely a bit better now. ]

[ oh no... you poor thing. athena puts her popcorn to the other side, away from merlin's seat and holds his face with both her hands. she looks at him before resting her forehead on his, and then she kisses him softly.

and again. ]

You're just not used to it. Sorry, maybe we should have just watched a regular movie... I got excited.

[ At first it's just relief from not having the screen blaring into his pupils but after she pulls him in his eyes flutter and it's just warmth. Her hands are warm, his forehead is a little warm and her mouth is definitely warm. Each kiss causes a tiny jump in his heart, though he makes no move to stop her in the slightest. ]

It's fine, I wanted to try it. [ This time it's his turn to kiss her, his hand reaching for her arm to rub the skin. ] I'd rather watch you anyway. [ Gross ]

[ she hasn't pulled away yet, though she lowers her hands on his shoulders. with a soft laugh, she whispers: ]

You have to watch your wording, or else you'd sound like a pervert.

[ He......... doesn't get it. He literally just meant look at her, because between the choice of her and some screen with a film about killer penguins... well?! ]
