[ He watches her quietly, still not speaking much which is definitely out of the norm. It's more responding to what she says. ]

The French didn't invent fries? [ What kind of confusing world is this...

He shifts to lean against one of the counters then, tapping lightly at the counter top when she brings It up. He freezes a little, before letting out a small breath. It's only when he's sure that Ai isn't awake or nearby that he responds properly. ]

I have everything to be nervous about. I keep... [ His face twists a bit, clearly irritated with himself more than anything. ] I keep thinking about what happened last time, and I want to be able to give you more than that. I just... [ sweats ] need a little more time.

[ she cracks the eggs and starts mixing them and adds the other ingredients into the bowl, still not looking at him. like she can with such an awkward topic hanging around them. ]

You're fine. [ really!!! ] But, um, I'm sorry.

[ she looks back at him really quickly before dipping the slices of bread into the mixture. merlin, why aren't you helping!!!! ]

[ He doesn't know what he needs to do?! Tell him what to do then he'll help... obviously! ]

You don't have to apologise. [ He reaches up to rub the back of his neck. ] It isn't that I don't want... [ This really is awkward. jfc. ] It just makes me feel like an idiot.

[ she walks to where he is and leans back on the counter next to him. that's when she nudges him with her elbow. ]

Don't. [ she starts fidgeting a bit and plays with her fingers. ] Don't ever think that or feel that way. You're not.

[ He wobbles slightly, but makes sure he doesn't pull away from her. ]

With that I am. I mean... I really don't know what I'm doing. [ And finally he looks a little flushed. ] I asked a friend for help but... he had to get some. Books. Nothing weird, just. I mean. Just so I have a better idea of how to make sure you feel the same kind of... y'know.

[ This sure is a lot of rambling. Rapid, rambling too I'm so sorry.

This truly isn't kitchen talk. ]

[ she pouts when he starts rambling, and she just looks up at him before poking him on the cheek. ]

Nobody knows what they're doing in the beginning. [ at least, that's what she thinks. and she didn't know what she was doing then or how to do it, either!! ] You're fine, okay?

[ He's too flustered for this, which means he just reaches to curl his hand around hers, entwining their fingers together. All he gets out though is a soft: ] Sorry. [ He's just used to being amazing ok-- kgjsdg wait ]

[ she smiles a bit when he holds her hand, and takes it as a sign that it's okay to rest her head on his arm, too. ]

You're fine. Sorry for being too forward.

[ she just!!! wanted!!! to try something!! ]

[ It's fine, he even leans to kiss the top of her forehead, nuzzling her a little. ]

You don't need to say that. It isn't that I don't want you to... I just. Want things to be equal.

[ well now she feels awkward. ]

I guess I misunderstood? Um-- [ she looks back at the bread waiting to be fried and then up at him and back. ] I should-- probably--

[ He glances away, scratching his cheek with his free hand. ]

Yeah. [ This entire thing is awkward. ] Do you want me to do that part or?

[ it really is awkward god help them ]

Do you want to do it? Because I can just-- [ do it on her own... but actually cooking breakfast would mean letting go. :( ]

[ 2 awkward for life. ]

I can. [ He twists just a little, but enough so that he can pull her hand around his waist. He doesn't need to move too much since everything is already out and set up, and this way she can stay clinging onto him like a koala. ] There.

Do I flip it, too? Like a pancake?

[ she does end up clinging onto him with both her hands now, and she rests her head on his side. ]

Yeah, you have to flip it. Make sure not to burn it.

[ He peeks back at her but it's only brief before he concentrates on making sure he doesn't burn them. He's made pancakes often enough that it isn't a problem though. The first two are flipped onto a plate, finished. ]

How many are there?

Make six, I guess. Two for each of us.

[ her hold on him just grows tighter. ]

How many do you think you'll eat?

Are you taking Ai's to her room?

[ His eyes flutter slightly when she holds onto him tighter, just because it's nice after that uncomfortable moment earlier. ]

Two is fine.

[ she can't help but laugh a bit when he asks the question about ai. ]

Nah... You're the only one who has breakfast in bed privileges.

[ and one of these days, she'll surprise him in that way!!! :T ]

[ He peeks back at her when she laughs, flipping another two into the pan. ]

So are we taking these back to bed?

[ Well........ ]

Oh, do you want to eat in my bedroom?

[ she blinks curiously before letting go, reaching up for one of the cupboards again to grab a tray. ]

[ He flips the toast over before it can burn, making sure it's equal on both sides. ]

I don't mind.

[ before she forgets, she opens the fridge to grab a bottle of orange juice for herself and places it on the tray. ]

Do you want some juice too? Or do you want water instead?

[sortileges]

[ He flips those two onto a plate, then finishes with the last two. ]

Juice is fine. [ He just says it over his shoulder though, making sure he doesn't burn these before he switches it all off. ]

Done.

[ one more bottle of orange juice it is, then!! ]

I'll set the table for Ai. Can you get the syrup from the fridge and head to the room?

[ He opens the fridge and peeks around for the syrup, having to work out which she meant. It's easy enough to spot after a moment though, and puts that on the tray as well. ]

Got it. Will Ai need some on her plate as well or...?
